Art has many purposes such as sending a message, shocking, causing some kind of a reaction and many others. Public statues seem to have all of the above mentioned purposes even though their intention should be to remind people of a certain event of simply to look nice. However, that is not the case with the statues on this list! Take a look!

This statue was intended to be a token of appreciation from the people of Alabama to a certain kind of bug that helped them in the fields of agriculture and economy. It was erected in 1919 in downtown Enterprise, Alabama, USA.

This is one of the ugliest statues in the world. It is located in Burkina Faso. It was probably meant to draw customers but it seems to have done the opposite.

We don’t think that fiesta dancers look like this while performing. But ok as long as the artist (Luis Jimenez) saw them that way.

This statue from Mexico looks like it came out of the Lord of the Rings movie, maybe it’s Golum’s cousin…Can you see the similarity?

Was this intended to be a knight or something else? Never the less this idea seems to be a complete and utter failure.

Horses are gracious and beautiful animals. But this statue entitled “El Mesteño” certainly doesn’t look like that with its glowing eyes and repulsive blue color. It is 8 meter high and stand at the entrance of the Denver International Airport.

This Christopher Columbus statue reminds us more of an ancient warrior from Rome or for that matter of anyone but the discoverer of the American ground.

I don’t know what kind of hotel Clarendon Hotel, in London is but it most certainly has one of the weirdest statues ever. Wonder what kind of guests stay at the hotel.

This statue of a sheep in Canberra, Australia makes you wonder what is exactly a sheep doing on a chair with that strange expression on its face.

The statue of Peter the Great Statue in Moscow, Russia was built by Zurab Tsereteli in 1997. By the order of the Moscow government on the island between the Moscow River and the Obvodny canal. It looks extremely tacky.

The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the ‘’Turtle Boy ‘’ statue was- What the heck is he doing to the poor animal, and then it hit me, he was teaching her how to swim!

This is a statue of Britney Spears giving birth. No further comments…

Take a look at some other strange statues from around the world:
